Dinner at Jean Roberts Table, Cincinnati

19 December 2014

My boyfriend and I haven’t been able to spend a lot of quality time together because we’ve been so busy with work and school lately, so he planned dinner at Jean Roberts Table, just for us two.

I was blown away when he told me he had made reservations. It’s a five star French restaurant in Cincinnati, and you know how much of a Frenchie I am.

We started off with the Foie Gras Torchon — a composition of figs, endive, duck confit, and butternut squash bread with almond.

And then we had the mother of all mac and cheeses — with mushrooms, endives, and truffle oil. Everywhere I go, I need to try the mac and cheese.

My pick was the Croque Monsieur with chicken confit, sautéed chicken liver, frisée salad, vinaigrette, and fried egg.

He got the 3 Little Cochon. This literally means three little pig (parts): the belly, ribs, and tenderloin. It was topped with bourbon sauce, and accompanied with country potatoes, garlic confit, braised cabbage, and mushrooms.

This was both of our favorites. We were in hog heaven.

It was the perfect evening. Check out Jean Roberts Table if you’re in town, I highly recommend it!
