Vanille Patisserie, Chicago

4 January 2015

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I went on a macaron mission. We looked up the best macarons in Chicago, which the internet told us was at Vanille Patisserie in Lincoln Park. We drove 40 minutes there to finally try a taste of these special cookies.

This was the first macaron I’ve ever had in my life. It’s crazy that it took me this long to try one. I am, after all, obsessed with everything pertaining to France. But, after all, the best things in life are the ones that you wait for.

They had every flavor imaginable… chocolate, hazelnut, nutella, coffee, green tea, pistachio, raspberry framboise, strawberry champagne, and lavender.

As much as fancy flavors intrigue me, my favorite has always been vanilla, and here it was fitted in my favorite color, a striking blue.

The verdict was that I’m now completely obsessed. We sat down for a couple and then ate them all. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle. They were so delicious. More macaron adventures to come!

Overall, my rating for Vanille Patisserie is…

Excellent – I feel like I’m in France!

Vive la France!
